In the reading I did tonight, Patty was talking to Debbie about how she hates that she is so short. Patty desperately wants to get platform shoes to wear to school so she is taller, but her mother won’t let her get them because she is afraid she will fall and break something. Patty is also sad because in fifth grade she was the tallest kid in her grade, she was even taller than all the boys, but over the summer she did not grow and all the kids in her class grew taller than her. Hector was in his room playing the guitar when he wrote a song. His song only contained the notes that he learned in the first class, but the song was pretty good. Lastly, Debbie went over the Lenny’s house to listen to the radio station Criss Cross in the truck, but Hector was not there. This was because he was at his uncle’s wedding. It was very awkward between Debbie and Lenny in the car for a while until Lenny asked Debbie if she wanted to learn how to drive. Debbie was unsure if she wanted to learn how to drive, so she made Lenny go ask his dad if he could teach her. Lenny came back out, pretending that he had asked permission, and lied to Debbie saying that his dad said it was fine. After getting the hang of driving a manuel shift, Debbie realized that it was a great idea to learn how to drive a stick shift car incase she was driving with someone who got hurt and she had to drive them to the hospital.
